The Boy Scout in me always want me to be overprepared. Or maybe that’s just my excuse for overpacking. I travel for work so I’m fairly adept at only packing the essentials for myself. Coming up with Dad’s Hospital Bag was fairly easy. What about my baby’s hospital bag? Similar to any information I found for my own bag, there are exhaustive lists out there.
There are a couple of variables that you need to keep in mind:
- You don’t know how big the baby will be ahead of time so having different sizes will be key. Especially if the baby decides to come before 40 weeks and you don’t want them floating in 0-3-month clothes.
The length of your stay in hospital. This will depend on your hospital’s policy, a full-term baby, and the birthing method.
Here is our packing list for the baby’s hospital bag. I’ll update it after the baby comes so we can compare together.
